June 22, 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEEVENT DATE: Seasonal, 2009 now ongoing Historic Chester Heights Camp Meeting begins their 137th season with their Concerts In the Woods series. Selected 100+ year old Victorian Cottages can be toured one hour prior to the concert Chester Heights Camp Meeting was founded in 1872, when excursions were made by trainloads of visitors from Philadelphia, who traveled to hear famous evangelists from as far away as England, and to be entertained with music and programs. This tradition continues today at this historic Christian campmeeting, with their weekend "Concerts In the Woods" series of local and national entertainers, and a weekend revival of faith once each summer. The campmeeting is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an official project of “Save America’s Treasures.” All concerts are Sunday at 7:00 PM and a free. Chester Heights Campmeeting is located at 320 Valleybrook Road in Chester Heights, PA. The entrance to the campground is located where Smithbridge Road intersects with Valleybrook Road (Route 261). The Camp Meeting is located at 320 Valleybrook Road (Rte 261,) one mile South of US Route 1 (Baltimore Pike,) at the Smithbridge Road traffic light. Chester Heights Camp Meeting Association is an evangelical religious organization that works with area churches. They are located on 31 acres, with 150 year-old trees, hiking trails, children's playground, several Victorian public buildings, such as an original gazebo that seats 120 people, and 60 century-old Victorian summer cottages.
