The past few decades of attempts to hold things together with prayer, baling wire and chewing gum (but without the appropriate expertise or adequate finances) has taken its toll. The three central public buildings are in need of major repair and/or renovation; the Tabernacle ($50-$70,000), the Kitchen/Dining Hall ($25,000 to repair, $20,000 to modernize), and the Dormitory (aprox. $50,000). Twelve of the Victorian cottages need restoration or renovation estimated at $3,000 to $4,000 each, and the entire property needs roadways, fencing, and lighting systems estimated at $75,000.
In addition, the past 2 years have seen increased pressure from the local borough officials to bring the entire property into compliance with safety, fire, and building codes, as well as with potential DEP compliance issues.
